[Aida2024] Closing

Dear All,

As a simple measure, I also did a calculation that does not just sum the votes but counts the sum as proportion of all votes obtained by a given dissertation. Jannik Peters came to 0.6, Thomas Fel to 0.44. While I personally prefer the latter to the former, numbers are what they are. The results may change if more people cast their votes.

Dear Ulises,

I am unsure about the procedure that is being followed to award the prize.
I assumed that at this stage each of us was supposed to analyse all 6 applications.
The basic assumption is that each of us analyse at least three, some of us did more. Also trying to have mos t of the thesis with at least three opinions. For a few candidates I asked for external iad.
However, looking at the Excel, it does not seem everyone is doing so.

If you compare Jannik Peters and Thomas Fel, considering only the jury members who have assessed both, there seems to be a tie.
This morning, I detected the issues and I am reviewing both (again).
How fair is the process if we allow some of us to overlook some of the applications? (To a lesser extent, I had the same kind of doubts regarding the previous stage, I should say.)

So far, we have no decision. If the tie persist we will focus on those and, maybe, have a winner and a forerunner.

If you like, I will be happy to have short call with you, just let me know.
